$20.00 plus shipping and handling (limit 10 per order)

Motown Museum’s inaugural Legacy Vinyl Project: “My Girl” at 60 chronicles the creation of the iconic Temptations song, written by Ronnie White and William “Smokey” Robinson of the Miracles, in celebration of the 60th anniversary of its release.  This limited-edition 45rpm record offers a unique storytelling endeavor and a re-mixed / remastered version of the legendary Temptations recording.

  • Side A (The “My Girl” Interviews) tells the story of the song’s origin through the voices of Smokey Robinson (Co-Writer), Otis Williams (Temptations), and Paul Riser (Arranger) with interviews conducted in Studio A in Detroit where “My Girl” was recorded 60 years ago.
  • Side B (My Girl Remastered) was created using the original multi-track master tapes.

The packaging includes an essay by journalist and author Adam White, and a historical retrospective by photographer Don Paulsen who recounts being in the dressing room when Smokey Robinson taught “My Girl” to the Temptations between shows at the Apollo Theatre in 1964.

With interviews recorded in Motown’s legendary Studio A at Hitsville U.S.A., tracks remixed and remastered at Motown Museum, and records pressed at Third Man Pressing, the Legacy Vinyl Project is the first 45rpm single with new content captured in Studio A to be recorded, pressed and released from Detroit in more than 50 years.  Secure your copy today and listen to “My Girl” for the “first time” all over again.
